United Left Front and Communist Parties of Nepal - Unified

In 1988 and onwards, efforts for objective thinking and achieving correct policy conclusions have been observed in different aspects like struggles in the line of thinking, organizational approach, class struggle, left unity for democratic movement, joint front and functional unity (Karyagat Ekata), communist unity and the process of party unification etc. Resultant effect was the formation of United Left Front for anti-Panchayat struggle in 1990. United Left Front covered CPN (ML), CPN-Marxist, CPN (Fourth Congress), Nepal Worker and Peasant Party, CPN-Varma, CPN-Amatya and CPN-Manandhar. The United Left Front played extremely vital role in the Historical Mass Movement of 1990. It also created objective ground for party unity. Although, the diversity of thoughts created difficulties in the operation of united front, it existed for an important period even after the mass movement due mainly to good understanding among major parties. Because of the joint effort under United Left Front, historical party unity has been achieved by CPN-ML and CPN-Marxist in December 1990 and CPN (UML) came into existence.

After the formation of CPN (UML), CPN-Amatya joined the unification. Similarly, the present CPN (UML) has been joined by the leaders and workers from CPN-Maoist, CPN-Masal, CPN-Forth Congress, CPN-Manadhar, CPN-Varma and Nepal Worker and Peasant Party. Thus CPN (UML) has now been developed as the mainstream of the democratic and communist movement of Nepal.
