Country heading towards the democratic republic <TOP>

Kathmandu: After the long gap of King Gyanendra in media, in his recent visit to the farwest, revealed that the relationship of king and the political parties is like the husband and wife. The husband and wife relationship in a feudal society like Nepal can be illustrated as the king was saying that the parties are like wife and are in the bargain, when the bargaining points meet they will again become one.

When he was delivering this speech, the analysis went on that the king is in the very hard time of the history, this indicates that the history of active monarchy is declining down and the history of more than 500 years is gradually being declining and the king is in hard time for the existence. Because of the king and his decision in all spectrum of socio-political life, the eldest political party of Nepal is against the active monarchy institutionally. As the notion of the political parities is" The treaty between the then king Birendra and the political parties, to remain the king under constitution and to respect such monarchy" after the declaration of king Gyanendra in his "royal declaration" on 2002 Oct first has already crossed the limitations of that norms and values. Because of this power dynamics of the king the political parties accelerated towards the republican democracy. Basically the concept and attitudes of the political parties can be described as follows-

CPN (UML) : After the decision of king Gyanendra, the decision of 2002 Oct. 4 and 2005 Feb.1, the king highly neglected the norms and values of the historical movement of 2046 and the king is becoming more autocratic and is trying to make the autocratic monarchy. Therefore the concept of republican democratic got place and space in over all spectrums of politics. The main slogan of the street movement also became the republic. In this concern, theoretically having the vision of peoples republic, The CPN (UML) takes this vision as a positive framework for the political transformation and in this regard wants to take the movement in the direction of the democratic republic. (The decision of the central committee on August 15 to 28)

Nepali Congress: Because of the king after the decision of 4 Oct. 2002 and 1st Feb. 2005, the king is heading towards the dictatorship, there are numerous evidences and examples of the king on this path. Now there are not any evidences and the norms that have been left for saying that the king is not on that track. The norms and values of constitutional monarchy have been old fashioned for the new king on his path towards dictatorship. Nepali congress can accept the only king who can be rightly constitutional monarch. The political vision of Nepali congress is Nationality, Multiparty democracy and democratic socialism in this frame congress is doing politics in Nepal and the main objective of Nepali congress is the same. But the constitutional monarchy is the treaty between the king and the people only. (Decision of central committee on 29 Aug. 2005)

Protest against the king in Newyork <TOP>

Kathmandu: The king Gyanendra, the chairman of the cabinet has to face the protest when going to attend the UN general assembly.

Nepalies are going to organize the protest on the final day of the assembly on the outer skirt of the convention hall in Newyork. This protest against the king is being organized by one Nepali intellectual organization called Nepali diospora of north America, the programmer and is being conducted exactly by 12 noon on Sep. 16.The general assembly will be attended by more than 170 country heads and it has been fixed that the king will participate on it.As the king wanted to meet the American president George Bush but it has been said that Bush will not meet him. This shows the reality of the king as a national hero, while some years ago the then Prime minister Ser Bdr. Deuba had met the president in the same status. On the justification of the protest Diospora says, as the king is trying to make the political parties in to the periphery of the nucleus of the politics, it is an attempt to show the political leaders of the world about the practices done in Nepal in the name of the politics and to bring back the king in to the main stream politics of party culture.
